Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Litcat desktop application and the litcat.app website (together, "Litcat"). By downloading, installing, or using Litcat, you agree to these Terms.

License grant

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Litcat on computers you own or control. The free tier may be used by any individual without charge. A Litcat Pro license is issued to a named individual (the purchaser's email address) and may be activated on multiple computers that person uses.

A Litcat Pro license includes one year of software updates, counted from the purchase date. You may continue to use any version of the application released within that window indefinitely, even after the update period ends. Versions released after the update period expires require a renewal purchase to use.

Restrictions

• You may not redistribute, sublicense, sell, or share your Litcat Pro license key with others.
• You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify Litcat except to the extent permitted by applicable law.
• You may not use Litcat in a way that violates any applicable law or regulation.

Your data

Your library catalog and all related data are stored locally on your computer. You own your data. Litcat does not access, upload, or retain your catalog, patron records, or any other data you enter into the application. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups.

Disclaimer of warranties

Litcat is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the application will be error-free or uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use Litcat, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Litcat after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
